7:00am California time
Here
I am on my way to China. It's been seven hours into the flight already
with about five to six hours to go till we hit China. I had just woken
up. It must have been about for to five hours that I've slept. I'm
feeling nervous yet exited at the same time. This is my first time out
of the states on my own, with the exception of my classmates I'm
traveling with. I just remembered something earlier halfway on the bus
ride to the airport... I forgot to leave my keys behind. At least no one
will be driving my car around.
Our
first stop is Beijing where we will be touring Tiananmen Square and
Forbidden City the day we arrive. The only thing is that we arrive
almost one day
ahead of California time. We finally get to the Beijing airport. It
hasn't yet hit me that I'm miles away from home and in China.
It didn't help much when the first thing we saw as we entered the
arrival area was a big green lit up sign that said Starbucks Coffee

We met up with our tour guide outside of the airport. He has a Chinese
name but he told us to call him Richard just to make it easier. We
brought our heavy luggage to a van which was designated to deliver them
to our hotel. Afterwards, we were escorted to our tour bus on the second
floor. It was a nice bus. On the way to the hotel, Richard gave a us a
little background history on Beijing.
